The Market Court recently rejected a proposal by the Finnish Competition Authority to impose competition infringement fines in the amount of EUR 20,000 on Greendoor Oy, an importer of camping equipment, for retail price maintenance. The Market Court found that Greendoor Oy had agreed on retail sales prices with a new distributor (Varuste.net) who would sell the products imported by Greendoor Oy through the Internet. According to the Market Court, the agreement qualified as a hard-core restriction, the object of which was to restrict competition. However, due to the restricted duration, scope and actual effects of the restriction, the Market Court refrained from imposing the proposed fine on Greendoor Oy.
